GTA 5, one of the best-selling games of all time, suffered a source code leak a while ago. When a part of the game hit the internet, developers wanted to turn it into an opportunity. Some third-party developers are reportedly working on the GTA 5 Switch and Android version based on the source code.
They are developing a mobile game with GTA 5’s leaked codes
Last year, hackers infiltrated Take-Two Interactive’s systems and stole the source code for both GTA 5 and the unreleased GTA 6. While the GTA 6 code has not been publicly revealed, it turns out that some of the GTA 5 code was sold to third-party developers.
One of these developers started working on GTA 5 mobile using the leaked source code. He said he wanted to port the game to different platforms such as Android, Linux and Nintendo Switch. According to reports, he managed to launch the game on these systems and reach the loading screen.
Bringing a massive open-world game like GTA 5 to mobile platforms is quite a challenge. There are many scenarios that developers have to deal with, both technically and in terms of the development process. It is also important to keep in mind that Rockstar may file a copyright lawsuit regarding a possible game.
Even though the GTA 5 mobile game has entered the development phase, it seems unlikely that it will be published and become permanent. However, it is possible that a similar production based on the leaked source codes could be offered on systems such as Switch or Android.
On the other hand, it was said that there is no delay in the development program of GTA 6 and that the work is progressing as it should. Accordingly, we can say that there is no significant change for now. So 2025 is planned for the GTA 6 release date.
